What you will learn A two-part course that will enable you to create beautiful, detailed etched prints using zinc and non-toxic etching techniques. You will learn about the principles of etching, and how to prepare and etch a plate. How to ink and print a plate will be clearly explained. The second session of the Etching course where you will expand your knowledge of etching, inking and printing. You will learn how create a range of weights of etched line as well as a variety of methods of inking and printing from your plate. Experience level No previous experience is needed for this course. Beginners are welcome, along with those who need a refresher. Course programme First session: prepare plate and apply resist, transfer image and etch, learn how to ink and print using etching press. Second session: how to create a range of etched marks using successive bites, inking à la poupée and monotype inking. A range of teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided. What is included All basic materials such as paper, tools and equipment are provided. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to continue etching or printing at home. Preparing for the course Explore markmaking with a fineliner/sharp pencil to make the most of this course. Doodle/draw, create patterns and interesting marks and explore transitions between tone and strong/delicate/fine lines. You will be creating a zinc plate 100 x 100mm. Come with a printed image/drawing on paper that fits within the dimensions, reversed if possible (use Photoshop or image editing software). https://www.pinterest.co.uk/lindenstudio/etching/ What next? Cancellation Policy

Cancellations and refunds If you cancel your booking more than three weeks before the course start date, you will be eligible for a refund, minus a 5% administration fee. I regret I cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than three weeks before the course start date. At this point I will have already started making preparations including ordering materials, and it is less likely I will be able to fill your place. I cannot give refunds for failed attendance due to sickness or external circumstances. Transfers If you would like to transfer to another course, you can do this free of charge providing you let me know three weeks before the course start date. Bookings cannot be transferred with less than three week’s notice but if you are unable to attend on the day, bookings can be transferred to another person. In this case, please let me know as soon as you can so I can update the booking. Cancellation by Linden Print Studio Linden Print Studio reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses. If this happens I will try to give you at least a week’s notice and full refunds will be given.
