What you will learn This beautiful 18th century printmaking technique will allow you to create dark, tonally-rich prints using traditional, hand-rocked copper plates. You will learn how to create a plate and print it using the traditional etching press. Experience level Some experience of printing, particularly etching, drypoint or aquatint is recommended. Course programme Drawing out your design. Practice mezzotint plate and printing. Final mezzotint design and printing. *Lunch* - you will need to bring your own packed lunch or Cranstons or Waitrose at Dobbies are just down the road if you want to do takeaway. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided during the day. What is included All basic materials such as paper, materials for mezzotint, tools and equipment are provided. Additional mezzotint plates and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to continue developing your mezzotint skills at home. Preparing for the course You will working initally on a mezzotint plate 60x50mm and then 60x100mm for your final design. You should collect monochrome source materials/drawings for your final size plate. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations and refunds If you cancel your booking more than three weeks before the course start date, you will be eligible for a refund, minus a 5% administration fee. I regret I cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than three weeks before the course start date. At this point I will have already started making preparations including ordering materials, and it is less likely I will be able to fill your place. I cannot give refunds for failed attendance due to sickness or external circumstances. Transfers If you would like to transfer to another course, you can do this free of charge providing you let me know three weeks before the course start date. Bookings cannot be transferred with less than three week’s notice but if you are unable to attend on the day, bookings can be transferred to another person. In this case, please let me know as soon as you can so I can update the booking. Cancellation by Linden Print Studio Linden Print Studio reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses. If this happens I will try to give you at least a week’s notice and full refunds will be given.
