Heather came and helped me paint the middle room, speedily and with great skill. No wonder she is such a talented artist as well. A lovely, warm yellow, a home-made mix of paints from Wigton Free For All community recycling project.

BBC Radio 6 Music has definitely helped us build the studio, it's been on in the background constantly. And listening to the interviews by various musicians has made me realise that art as a creative process has the same demands and cycles as making music.

Today, I've been varnishing the stairs with help from my little one. We're getting there!
