Newsletter January-February 2019

Image: Blick Office Printing Outfit No.2: what got me started on letterpress? I remember doing some interesting and extremely unprofessional-looking things with this fiddly bad boy in a previous lifetime.

Hello all,

Happy belated New Year! I’m writing this on a lovely sunny January day while people do Open Access in the Print Studio. Hive of activity. Sorry it’s been so late but I’ve been bowled sideways by various family illnesses and unexpected periods of intense busyness. Hence this is short but sweet!

News

Paper Sale

Lots of paper went on the one and a half days that the sale was on, but I still have plenty more in the Studio. I won’t be having another dedicated paper sale for a while but you are welcome during Open Access hours (see below). If you’re planning on visiting, please email or ring to check that I’m in as I’m doing a few Outreach projects that will take me out and about. I’ve attached the updated price list.

Books

Sometimes I think I run the Print Studio just to buy more books. Come and check out what’s new on the shelves.

Artist’s Development Course and Sketchbook Circle

Both of these are full and have already started, but I am thinking of running another Artist’s Development course later on in the year. Please let me know if you are interested and I’ll add you to my list of interested and interesting people.

Letterpress

Just a reminder that I’m offering three hours of 1:1 tuition on letterpress for a special price of £30. This offer is only valid until Friday 26 April during Open Access hours, depending on availability. Inks and the first few sheets of paper are included in the price, and additional paper are available to purchase in the studio (or you can bring your own).

Exhibitions

Last chance to see - My first solo exhibition ‘Printing Nature’ is on at RSPB Geltsdale and ends 31 January. The exhibition will then move to Carlisle Library for one month in a very abridged and different form.

The Great Print Exhibition at Rheged finishes on 27 January. As usual, a fascinating snapshot of contemporary printmaking.

Upfront Open dates: Tuesday 29th January - Sunday 24th March 2019. Looking forward to seeing this, as I know several people who are showing. A very well-established and high-quality exhibition, always good to see what there is.

Hopefully see you soon in the Studio,

best wishes

Vega
