Leo has always been fascinated by abstract art as well as printing.
In recent years, following an etching course at Linden Print Studio, etching has become an important part of his practice.
While his approach to painting is usually direct to surface, printing follows a more contemplative route through development of sketches - usually pen and charcoal - taking into consideration, and often pushing the expectations of the characteristics of the process, always trying to maintain a balance between the spontaneity of sketch ideas and the formality of the print process.
Vega says: ‘I am delighted to have Leo’s work in the Studio. His multi-layered and often complex prints explore mark-making in a very free and expressive way. You can also view his sketchbooks at the Studio.‘
The Studio is open weekdays 10.00-17.00 and weekends 11.00-16.00 but please email/telephone/text in advance.
